Consistently placing in the top 5 in national competitions.
Previously frustrated with not being able to get specific competition guns and equipment. Chris began importing competition guns and equipment for himself. After others saw what gear was possible to get in, further requests for help came.
Chris now offers a service to import competition guns and equipment for others as well.
Competition Guns is focused on the best products, service and advice when it comes to IPSC shooting. All of the guns which Chris uses are for specific divisions within IPSC (Open, Production, Revolver, Single Stack, 3 Gun). Chris believes that before you can offer meaningful advice to anyone else, you need to use and compete with the guns and equipment yourself.
Like other shooters, Chris has spent countless hours reviewing guns and equipment before deciding on what he considers to be the best option in each division. Then following on with actual field trials in competition to gain further experience in what does and doesn't work.
Chris uses equipment shared by some of the top IPSC shooters in the world - Saul Kirsh, Angus Hobdell, Jerry Miculek, Matt Burkett.
Looking for an edge or advantage is always on the mind of a competitive shooter.
Chris has spent many years tweaking and tuning equipment for competition use. This has given him the experience to look for improvements and customisation in guns and equipment to further help the competitive shooter. When splits of a second per stage separates 1st position to 10th, every little bit helps.
Chris is also looking to the future of the sport and where trends are headed.
In 2008 Chris became interested in Production division. He was the first to commercially supply the CZ Shadow in New Zealand, since then the growth of Production division in New Zealand has just exploded, making it the largest division at the IPSC Nationals.
2010 Chris began reading about trends overseas to shoot 9mm major in Open division. He has converted his STI Open division gun to 9mm and is now compiling load data which is capable of safely shooting 9mm major. The option of 9mm major is an exciting breakthrough as it can lead on to guns such as the CZ Shadow being modified into a low cost Open division gun (Work in progress)
New for 2011 is Revolver division. Chris has just rec'd his S&W 625 JM revolver. Within an hour of opening the box, the gun was apart and the first modifications had began. Further improvements from Ballistics Gunsmithing followed and now Chris is in pursuit of the perfect 45 ACP competition load. Expect to see more revolver matches happening in Auckland as the excitement in revolver grows.
Chris is an active competitor with over 15 years of competitive shooting and a track record of success.

Being a customer himself, Chris understands the importance of service and accuracy of advice. "If I don't know. I say so. But when I talk about something, it is backed by actual personal experience". The doors are never closed at Competition Guns. With the aid of technology your questions can be answered 7 days a week.
Chris and Andy from Ballistics gun smithing are always discussing new innovative ideas "We try it and test it first, then if its any good, we will show other people". Andy is the perfect gun smith with engineering experience and know how, as well as being a long time competition shooter himself. He not only understands how to do something, but why.
